I think I remember seeing a post somewhere on the about an server that lets each user choose whether they show a text (Mastodon-like) feed on their profile, or image tiles (Pixelfed-like). But I can't find it now, ¿maybe it was a planned feature?

Alright folks, I'm trying something new, so I'm making a new .

    Hiya! I'm Drew.

I've recently set up a second account using a relay through my domain name, so I'm trying out the from my phone. Cool! My regular mastodon handle is @abmurrow@hachyderm.io for those curious.

I'm a in , , and I do a bit of work in . I am originally from the Appalachias in the southeast US, but these days I'm living in . I am learning clawhammer and am seeking out weird, old, crooked tunes the play on it because I really enjoy the sound.

I work with , , and , though I'm starting to take a serious look at the world. I'm strongly anti and and do my best to avoid unethical software and hardware. This opinion will not be changed through persuasion or "spirited debate" ;)

I believe in the power of FLOSS and the OSS community, but more than that, I believe that tools have opinions that usually get left there by people with opinions, and using those tools tends to frame your thinking and behavior even when you don't expect it. So tool choice is, in effect, and ethical choice and one that will change you. What does that mean? It means I'm constantly in friction with my daily choices and am seeking out alternatives all the time that better fit with my values, which is why I'm here!

Holos offers a nice way to self host my data without self hosting a bespoke fedi instance, so I'm taking a look around before I commit.

    Glad to be here!

Which instances have a hard-line stance against to the point where they are exceptionally careful about the state of the OS the instance is running on?

An old sketch of mine that I thought would enjoy:

A graph showing that I have, in fact, an awesome wealth of fucks. However, none of those fucks will be given to you. I am happy, for I have many fucks. You are sad, for I give you no fucks while having many.

Running a small or single user instance in the ? Get connected to other instances by a relay!

I just adjusted my relay instance which now also finally supports ! Of course, it also supports Pleroma, snac, Mastodon, littlefedi, starling and many other ones!

With relays, your own posted content gets distributed to all connected instances, as well you get the content all other instances. Currently, mostly tech related instances are connected, focusing on , , / , and many other things!

            finally sends me push notifications!

Two things you can see here... It's pretty hot! That's why I stayed home and implemented a missing feature into snac. That's what you can also see - it finally sends push notifications to devices! In this case, we can see notifications coming from App for iPhone.

What we can also see, it's still a bit faulty and not the expected content, but a first success here at least ;) I'll make some further adjustments when there's time and get in touch with @grunfink@comam.es to check if we can get this upstream. Thanks to @stefano@bsd.cafe for testing with me :)

Meet , a lightweight server for the , built with PHP and SQLite.

Run your own decentralized social platform on shared hosting or a tiny VPS WITHOUT Redis, PostgreSQL, or complex infrastructure.

What it makes so special to me? It looks awesome, comes with a great admin web interface and does not require a VPS instance where it can also be operated on a cheap shared hosting systems. By the given requirements, it also easily runs on a and all kind of systems, including , , and more!

This all makes it perfect to everyone and even beginners to run their own instance. With relay support (e.g., fedi-relay.gyptazy.com) it even can consume and post content over non-directly connected instances in the !
