Al Lewis (Grandpa Munster in The Munsters, Leo Schnauser in Car 54, Where Are You?) presented a series of VHS releases of horror & scifi movies, mostly public domain & several shown in the watch party, from Amvest Video. Him doing a brief intro & outro, not movie-specific (he pauses while an off-screen "Igor" says the name of the film), while appearing very "Grandpa Munster"-esque.

Although he actually did it as "Grampa" (not Grandpa Munster), I guess so Amvest & Lewis could avoid having to license the Grandpa character from the rights owners of The Munsters.

He also used the legally-distinct "Grampa" brand in other ventures like his Italian restaurant Grampa's Bella Gente and licensed the Grampa's name to a mafia-owned comedy club in Staten Island!

I also learned Al stood as the Green candidate in the 1998 New York Governor election, & on Howard Stern's radio show repeatedly chanted "Fuck the FCC!" until Stern snatched the mic away from him!

Back to the topic, I discovered this because on Sunday 13 September, the will be showing ゲゾラ・ガニメ・カメーバ 決戦!南海の大怪獣 (1970), a.k.a. Space Amoeba, a.k.a. Yog, Monster From Space (previously shown in ), & I came across "Grampa Presents Yog, Monster from Space"!

It's on the Internet Archive, so I suppose folks can watch that version if they're "hardcore" :D

I've recently learned that you can use as your agent. In other words, it can both store ssh keys and use them with quite a simple integration. I've tested this workflow with both Flatpak and Snap versions of Bitwarden. Now I can securely sync my keys between devices 🔑

I was going to facetiously post a few paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum but then went down the rabbit hole of learning its . Oh boy.

that I can enable "Push to Create" in my @forgejo@floss.social instance. I just backed up many projects from a Proprietary Service (which I might soon lose access to), using a single command for each project.

It made me really appreciate the composability of CLI when I could type git remote add forgejo .../$(basename $(pwd)).git && git push ... to get that micro-automation going.

using API from code, and it's soo much nicer than its original . Function arguments (that are usually cryptically named integers) can be easily understood just by browsing their type definitions. Pointers are much more specific. Thanks Johnatan Marler for the zigwin32 bindings!

Same thing happened to me with and Linux earlier. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised I learned gdb CLI so late.

I'm really tempted to use the Forester notes approach to writing my thesis. It is a very interesting approach to scientific writing, where (as I understood it) atomic ideas are described separate files that can be linked but also arranged into longer documents.

The original is written in with quite involved setup, but about two single-executable implementations: Kodama and Weibian.

I'm still trying them out, but luckily both support @typst@mastodon.social so at least I can keep a common content format between them and final document
