TIL my library offers a service if you have a library card to learn languages. The service is called Mango Languages.

My library awesomely enough is a supporter and vendor at my city's Pride event. Very proud of them!

I use FreeBSD jails more way over a decade now. Today I learned, that I can simply do “jexec $jail_name” without a parameter and get a sh shell in the jail. You don’t actually need to put “sh” at the end of the command 🤯😂

that the style of design from the Vista / 7 era of WIndows has a (retroactive) name: Frutiger Aero

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frutiger

When you look at those "glassy" window decorations and icons, know that's what Frutiger Aero is all about.

(ironically, I didn't even bother with KDE4 back then, which was right around my beginnings with Linux)

      More info: frutigeraeroarchive.org/history

Now, if only I could find such a theme to fit !...

that I can enable "Push to Create" in my @forgejo@floss.social instance. I just backed up many projects from a Proprietary Service (which I might soon lose access to), using a single command for each project.

It made me really appreciate the composability of CLI when I could type git remote add forgejo .../$(basename $(pwd)).git && git push ... to get that micro-automation going.

using API from code, and it's soo much nicer than its original . Function arguments (that are usually cryptically named integers) can be easily understood just by browsing their type definitions. Pointers are much more specific. Thanks Johnatan Marler for the zigwin32 bindings!

Same thing happened to me with and Linux earlier. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised I learned gdb CLI so late.

I'm really tempted to use the Forester notes approach to writing my thesis. It is a very interesting approach to scientific writing, where (as I understood it) atomic ideas are described separate files that can be linked but also arranged into longer documents.

The original is written in with quite involved setup, but about two single-executable implementations: Kodama and Weibian.

I'm still trying them out, but luckily both support @typst@mastodon.social so at least I can keep a common content format between them and final document
